Security

The Government of the Republic of Malawi will provide security and public order at all venues hosting the 41st Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government. Special security arrangements will be in place at all the venues and access will be limited to only those who will be accredited for the event. All personnel must go through the security check unless explicitly exempted.

Fire Arms and other weapons

i) Firearms to be brought into Malawi must be cleared prior to the arrival of the delegation. Firearms clearance form will be available at https://www.foreignaffairs.gov.mw and all applications for the clearance of firearms should be submitted with an attachment of a Note Verbale not later than 6th August 2021 to This email address is being protected from spambots. ii) Full particulars i.e. full names of firearm bearers, nationalities, date of birth, passport numbers, calibre of the weapons, serial numbers and rounds of ammunition should be clearly indicated as in Annex 5.

iii) The total number of firearms allowed into the country for the protection of Heads of State and Government is limited to 4 side arms.

iv) All firearms should be declared at the Airport upon arrival and departure.

v) Delegations Security Officers must consult with their counterparts to establish, among other things, the number of side arms that is permissible to such areas as meeting venues, and State Banquet reception venue etc.
